Rand Easter Show 2018... And so it starts.

At the crack of dawn on Wednesday 28 March, members of the SA Navy Gun Run team and precision drill squads started practising during a Morning Live broadcast to show the nation a taste of what to expect from this year’s SANDF participation at the annual Rand Show held at NASREC, Johannesburg.

After the practice demonstration, a media briefing was held at the Expo Centre auditorium where Johannesburg Expo Centres CEO, Mr Craig Newman, welcomed and addressed the media to the 124th Rand Show.

During the briefing he highlighted some of the new attractions to the show, such as the flower and gardening exhibit and something with a twist which should prove very popular, the House of horrors experience.

On conclusion of Mr Newman’s presentation, Director Defence Corporate Communications, Brigadier General Mafi Mgobozi addressed the media on the role of the SANDF for this year’s show saying: “We will be giving you a glimpse of what a soldier’s everyday working environment is like. Such as the capability demonstrations, field surgery rooms, water purification systems and advanced weapon systems which are some of the exhibits on display.

On completion of the media briefing, invited media was taken on a tour of the SANDF exhibits on display. During this time they also interacted with SANDF members present from the various formations and were also briefly informed about what exactly each formation’s role is during combat.
