The aim of the military parade was to honour those regiments who fearlessly contributed to the relief of Ladysmith during the South African Anglo Boer War between the years 1899 and 1902. The battlefields festival has over the past seven years been an outstanding success and has even brought regiments from far and near and assembled them in their beauty and honour jointly. The event marks and promotes the freedom of entry to the city of Ladysmith.
